The victims were identified as a 65-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman from New Britain, Connecticut, the outlet said citing Massachusetts State Police. Their identities were not officially released.
Another vehicle was also involved and the driver of that car was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, NECN continued.
The crash was reported by Exit 24 just on the morning of Saturday, July 30, according to a Tweet from MassDOT.
The two right lanes of the highway were closed as a result. A video posted on Facebook showed the pickup truck being carried away.
No other information was initially released and the crash remains under investigation.
